There\u2019s everything from kid-friendly nature paths to demanding wilderness epics.<\/strong> If you want to immerse yourself in Enonteki\u00f6\u2019s nature and history, consider hiring a local guide. They offer trips from short hikes to multi-day treks.<\/p>\n

The best time for hiking is from late June till September. Do remember that the wilderness is unpredictable<\/strong> and weather can change without notice. It\u2019s not rare to see the first snowflakes fall while the autumn colours are at their brightest.<\/p>\n

Day trips<\/h4>\n

For beginners, the best hikes are the short trails found in Pallas-Yll\u00e4stunturi National Park<\/strong> and villages of Hetta and Kilpisj\u00e4rvi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

One such destination is Lake Hietaj\u00e4rvi<\/strong>in Pallas-Yll\u00e4stunturi National Park. The popular lakeside lean-to can be reached via an easy 2.5-kilometre trail. You can experience the vast space of the open fells by scaling Pyh\u00e4kero from Hetta<\/strong> or Montellinmaja from Vuontispirtti<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In Hetta, various marked trails into the Jyppyr\u00e4 hills<\/strong> start at the Fell Lapland Visitor Centre. Here, you can wander among stark pines, jagged birches and serene marshlands. In early summer, native flowers dot the trails. When summer starts turning to autumn, you can pick berries on your way.<\/p>\n

In Kilpisj\u00e4rvi, you can take day trips around Saana, Salmivaara<\/strong> and Malla Strict Nature Reserve. The lean-to at Tshakalj\u00e4rvi<\/strong> is one of the most popular picnic spots in the region. Simply follow the easy trail to the lake and you\u2019ll be rewarded with a gorgeous view of Saana. If you want to challenge yourself, hike the trail around Saana or even climb to its summit!<\/p>\n

Hikes<\/h4>\n

Hetta-Pallas is one of the most iconic hiking trails in Finland.<\/strong> The marked trail is an unforgettable experience even for seasoned hikers, but it\u2019s also great for your first multi-day excursion. However, you need to be prepared and strong enough for the open fells.<\/p>\n

Halti and the other great fells<\/strong> await expert hikers in the K\u00e4sivarsi Wilderness Area. The marked Nordkalott trail will take you through incredible landscapes from Kilpisj\u00e4rvi to Halti. Along the way, you can stop at a number of wilderness huts and see the Pihtsusk\u00f6ng\u00e4s waterfall<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you\u2019re looking for a true wilderness experience, the roadless vastness of K\u00e4sivarsi, Py\u00f6risj\u00e4rvi, Tarvantovaara<\/strong> and Pulju<\/strong> are full of unforgettable experiences. Note that you need to rely on your own wilderness skills, as they have no marked trails. There are a few wilderness huts here and there, but don\u2019t rely on them<\/strong>. Also keep in mind that the wilderness is home to the local people \u2013 you\u2019re welcome to visit as long as you have respect and leave no trace.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
